Choose one short sentence this morning that pulls you back to the anchor whenever the current of the day would carry you off. It could be: Jesus, You are my treasure; I stay close to You. Or Martha's confession: "Lord, I believe that You are the resurrection and the life." Say it slowly now, and keep it for today: this is the short rope in your hand.

And once during the day, face the question: what is the one treasure worth letting something else go for today? A rushing, a resentment, a tight grip. Let it go, and draw nearer to the One who is the treasure. If you feel the dryness, don't turn away: stay at your rope, and set out toward the spring with a simple, spoken prayer.
