This is the one-minute slice of today's morning companion: a verse and a step. If it helps, there's a quiet door to the full day below.
"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." John 12:24
Ask yourself quietly: what is the one thing I'm clutching tightly today? It might be a truth I'm clinging to; a hurt I don't want to release; a little of my time or attention I begrudge giving. Don't look for all of them, just that one.
Then make the seed's movement with it. Open your hand and say softly: "Lord, I let this fall into the ground today." Give that attention, speak that sorry, release that being-right. It won't be dramatic, and maybe no one will see it. But the harvest always begins in the dark earth, in silence. One seed is enough for today.
