In Your Presence · One-Minute Companion

This is the one-minute slice of today's morning companion: a verse and a step. If it helps, there's a quiet door to the full day below.

"Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother? As many as seven times? I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven." Matthew 18:21–22
Cancel one hundred denarii today

Think of the one person whose debt you carry around day after day: a slight, a disappointment, a wound that never healed. Not all of them, just that one. Today let their hundred denarii go. You may not be able to tell them; it's enough to set it down in your heart, and not pick it back up.

Before you do, stop for a prayer and say it softly: "Lord, You forgave me first. Out of Your mercy, I let them go too." And if today there's no one you're holding a grudge against, then practice gratitude: count, just once, how much has been forgiven you, and let that hold you gently till the day is done.
