In Your Presence · One-Minute Companion

This is the one-minute slice of today's morning companion: a verse and a step. If it helps, there's a quiet door to the full day below.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.” Matthew 7:24–25
Do the one thing

There is something you heard a long time ago and still have not done. A call you should start. An apology. A decision you have been sliding forward for months. A confession. You know which one it is; you don't have to search for it, because it came to mind just now.

Do it today, before the day fills up. Stop preparing for it. The first cut into the rock is the hardest, and it is the one that gives you the whole thing. Then say one more thing to God, quite simply: show him the one place that has been hurting for a long time, and ask him to heal it. He is not asking you for a patch. He is asking to be let in.
