Today's step: give thanks for what still looks like ashes

This morning, pick one thing you wouldn't readily call a gift - a tiredness, an unfinished task, a long wait. Don't ask for it to change yet. Just say quietly: “thank you for knowing me in this too.”

That sentence won't fix what's hard. But it starts the same movement Job made out of the ashes: not toward an answer, but toward a presence.
