God Is Here Even Now
He isn't here to point out something you got wrong. He simply sits beside you, the way a mother sits next to her child before saying a single word.
He doesn't expect you to be strong right away, or to already know what to do with the day. He only asks you to stay a minute longer - that's enough to begin.
Today's Guiding Word
"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home." Matthew 1:20
These words come in the middle of a bewildering night. Joseph thought he had to act quietly, because what he was seeing made no sense to him. The angel doesn't explain everything - he says only what's needed to keep Joseph moving forward: don't be afraid. God doesn't wait for us to understand before he acts - he moves first, and teaches us to trust along the way.
Walk Toward the Light in God's Presence
Today the Church celebrates Mary's birth, and yet the Gospel opens with a long list of names: generation after generation, famous kings and forgotten ones, and among them a few women whose stories are anything but tidy - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba. Matthew doesn't leave them out. God's plan didn't arrive in the world through an unbroken line of flawless people, but through fractures, stumbles, and fresh starts - all the way to a girl finally born with nothing standing in grace's way.
Mary didn't say yes because she knew everything waiting for her. She didn't know she'd been conceived without sin, any more than she knew how her life would end. She knew exactly as much as the decision required - and that was enough. She didn't overthink it or calculate the odds; she listened, and when God spoke, she received it.
Paul makes an almost unbelievable claim today: those God called, he has already glorified - he says it in the past tense, long before the story is finished. From the outside, your life might look like nothing more than random stumbling, one day into the next. God is pulling it somewhere on purpose, the way a magnet draws iron filings into a single direction, even while all you can see is scatter.
A quiet invitation this morning is to accept the condition of your body too - whatever you are right now, tired or full of energy, well or fragile. Mary didn't arrive in the world in some perfected body either: she was simply a child, and light began in her anyway. God doesn't want you because you're flawless - he starts building right where you already are.
Today, Say Yes Without Knowing It All
Think of one decision you've been putting off because you can't see how it ends. Today, don't wait for every question to be answered - just do the one thing that's actually yours to do, in this hour.
Even a small move is enough - a short prayer before you begin something, or a single sentence that accepts: your body, your day, your situation are exactly this today, and that's enough for now.
I Praise You, Living God
Heavenly Father, who turns everything toward my good
I praise you for who you are. Nothing that happens to me passes through your hands by accident - you draw it all toward one good direction, even the parts I can only see as chaos. You lifted an ordinary village girl's life until a dawn of salvation began inside her; you haven't left mine without purpose either.
I bless you, because you don't ask me to see the road ahead, only to trust the one leading me down it. I exalt you, because those you call, you also glorify - not someday, but already, as sure as a promise.
Lord Jesus Christ, who became flesh through one yes
I praise you for who you are. You were born at the end of a long, broken family line, among ancestors whose lives would have earned few hymns of praise - and still you chose to belong among them. You weren't ashamed of our story; you took it on as your own.
I exalt you, because when Joseph was afraid, you didn't leave him there: you sent an angel to speak to him. I praise you, because you still speak the same way into fear today - quietly, but in a way that leaves us able to move again.
Holy Spirit, who makes the heart willing
I praise you for who you are. You shaped Mary into a heart that didn't reason its way through, but listened, and when you spoke, gave itself completely. You ask that same attentiveness of me - not heroics, just willingness.
I bless you, because you don't demand the whole yes from me in a single instant - you teach it to me gradually, one ordinary decision at a time. I exalt you, because you are at work in me in places I still can't see, shaping me into what your plan has already prepared.
Trinity, one God, who loves a quiet beginning
I praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one living God. The Father turns everything toward good; the Son became flesh through one yes; the Spirit makes the heart willing to say it. This isn't three separate stories - it's a single movement: the way you bend down toward a quiet beginning until it becomes light.
Glory to you, because Mary's story is still unfolding in every heart brave enough to say yes without understanding it all. Glory to you, because you call me the very same way, with the very same patience. Amen.
Here I Am, Lord
Here I am, Lord, with this body and this day, exactly as I am right now. I won't wait until I feel more ready - I say yes today, as much as I can today.
I place in your hands my body and my soul, my lonely moments and my uncertainties, my family, my work, today's decisions, and everyone I'll meet.
Give my heart a willingness like Mary's - so that trust, not fear, speaks the yes in me.

This song is about how the yes is never a single grand decision made once - it's a choice spoken again and again, even when the road ahead is hidden. Say it today along with it: yes, whatever God's answer turns out to be for this day.
