God Is Here Even Now
God is here even now, before you've had a chance to compose yourself in front of him. He isn't waiting at the door while you wipe your face; he's already inside, standing in the middle of the room, right where your shame lives.
He isn't measuring how guilty you are. He's watching to see whether you'll step toward him just as you are, tear-streaked, unwashed, unspoken.
Today's Guiding Word
“Her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.” Luke 7:47
That doesn't mean the more you sin, the safer you are. It means whoever truly grasps how much has been forgiven finds a heart that simply can't answer any other way than with love.
Walk Toward the Light in God's Presence
A woman walks into a house she wasn't invited to. Jesus is reclining at the table, and she stops behind him and starts to weep. Not with words. Her tears fall on his feet, her hair wipes them away, a jar of costly perfume breaks open in her hands. The whole town knows exactly who she is. So does Simon, and in his mind he writes her off: if this man were really a prophet, he'd know what kind of woman is touching him.
Jesus doesn't pull his feet back. He tells Simon a small story about two debtors, one owing five hundred, the other fifty, both forgiven, and asks which of them will love the moneylender more. Then, still speaking to Simon, he turns toward her. He looks at her. That single motion is itself gospel: he doesn't talk about her behind her back, he looks her full in the face while everyone else only whispers.
One reflection today makes a point worth sitting with: this story isn't proof that love alone is enough and belief is optional. The woman didn't come to a charming rabbi. She came to the one man on earth who can forgive sins, because he is God's own Son. Her tears alone wouldn't have earned that forgiveness. What mattered was who they landed on, the one who would rise on the third day.
That's why Jesus finally says it straight to her, not to Simon: your sins are forgiven, go in peace. He isn't erasing her past. He's opening her future. The other guests are still muttering about who this man thinks he is to forgive sins, and she's already walking out the door, tears and all, free.
Bring him the tear you haven't cried yet
Name one specific thing today that you're ashamed of, even if it's only to yourself.
Don't explain it away or soften it. Just say it to Jesus, the way that woman did, even without a single tear, in one quiet sentence. He won't turn from you. He'll turn toward you.
I Praise You, Living God
Heavenly Father, who meets me in forgiveness as your own child again
I praise you for who you are. You never wait for me to clean myself up before I come near; your forgiveness was never a reward, it's your first step toward me. When that sinful woman walked into a house she wasn't invited to, you were already there waiting for her, before she even knew what she was about to do.
I bless you, because with you there's no debt, five hundred or fifty, you won't cancel for the one who turns to you. I exalt you, because your grace never counts my failures, it only asks whether I'll finally come home. I praise you, because even my shame is something you look at as a road that leads back to you.
Lord Jesus Christ, who turns toward me even while speaking to someone else
I praise you for who you are. While others judge me behind my back, you turn toward me and look me in the eye, the way you did with that woman at the Pharisee's table. You never measure the size of my sin, only whether I'll finally dare to come close.
I exalt you, because you died and rose so your forgiveness would never be just a kind word, but a fact paid for with your own body. Your love was never built on what I deserve, it's built on the fact that you, God's own Son, once and for all bent down for me. I adore you, because when you say my sins are forgiven, you're not erasing my past, you're opening my future. I praise you, because your love never rations itself: it gives enough to fill an entire life.
Holy Spirit, who teaches me to pray in tears
I praise you for who you are. You're the one who never lets my shame stay silent; you turn what I can't say into words into tears instead. When that woman fell weeping at Jesus's feet, it was your work that finally let her heart speak.
I bless you, because you don't let me hide behind my explanations. I exalt you, because it's safe to cry in your presence, I know it counts as prayer, never as weakness. I praise you, because you always lead me to where Jesus's face is waiting, never to where only judgment is.
Holy Trinity, one God who turns even my tears into forgiveness
I praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one living God. The Father meets me before I'm clean, the Son turns toward me when others would turn away, the Spirit turns what I can't say into tears I finally can. This threefold movement always leads to the same place: where my many sins are met by even greater love.
Glory to you, because with you the smallest tear is enough to open heaven. Amen.
Here I Am, Lord
Lord, I bring you this Thursday, along with the tear I might not fully cry even today.
I bring you my body, including the part of it I'm ashamed of, and my soul, with all the small debts I keep carrying around inside. If I'm lonely, or if anxiety is pressing on my chest, I won't hide it from you now, I'll set it in front of you, the way that woman set down her jar of perfume.
I bring you my family, the people I'll meet today, and the ones I still owe an honest word or a real forgiveness. Let me love today more than I need to be right, because that's exactly how you've treated me.
A Song to Carry Into Today
Don't just have this playing in the background today. Let the song say what you haven't dared to: how much you are loved by the one who knows everything about you and still turns toward you.

Today's core message is the story of the sinful woman (Luke 7:36-50): her many sins were forgiven because she loved much. Father Barsi's reflection today (his own blog, barsitelekmm.blogspot.com, unusually carried today's own entry, and the Zarándok.ma Daily Reflection confirmed the same point) warns that love alone didn't earn the forgiveness, what mattered was that she turned to the God-man who died and rose for our sins, exactly what Paul restates in today's second reading (1 Corinthians 15:1-11). The Regnum Christi devotional unpacks the same much-forgiven, much-loved connection. Today's Miracle Every Day letter is about a cloud no bigger than a hand (1 Kings 18:44) that was enough for God to send rain, which gave today's image its shape: even the smallest tear is enough. The Cistercian House's daily message again arrived as an image with no text, but its subject line, "Entrust everything to my care," captures today's message on its own. Jesus Calling and Daily Hope, both on US time, had not yet posted today's entry by 7 a.m. in Budapest, so yesterday's (09.16) editions were used instead, a routine time-zone gap, not a missing source.
The road we walk together
Yesterday was about it being enough to be real before God, with no part to play; today is about how even your tears are enough to bring down forgiveness like rain.
