This is the one-minute slice of today's morning companion: a verse and a step. If it helps, there's a quiet door to the full day below.
„Jesus said to him, ‘If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’” Matthew 19:21
Find one thing today that you are gripping, and release it concretely, not just in your thoughts. It can be something you can hold: give away something of yours to someone who needs it. It can be half an hour of your time, spent on somebody else. It can be an insult you decide not to repeat to anyone today.
And where you can't speak about God, shine instead. One encouraging sentence, one piece of gossip refused, a smile that holds even when there's no reason for it. Where he can't be talked about, he can still be made visible. That's all today asks: an open hand, an open face. No one is ever made poorer by what they let go of for God.
