This is the one-minute slice of today's morning companion: a verse and a step. If it helps, there's a quiet door to the full day below.
“Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: See! I will bring spirit into you, that you may come to life. I will put sinews upon you, make flesh grow over you, cover you with skin, and put spirit in you so that you may come to life and know that I am the LORD.” Ezekiel 37:5–6
There is a place in you that has gone dry. A relationship that runs on politeness now. Work you used to love. Your prayer. You don't have to hunt for it; it came to mind just now.
Don't try to revive it. Stand over it and say it out loud, plainly: “Lord, this here is dry. Breathe into it.” That's the whole thing. There is no cleverer prayer than that one.
Then do one more thing today. Catch the one action you would take only to look good in someone's eyes, and skip it. Give the strength you just saved to the person who is actually beside you.
